It is recommended that the
processors utilized in the RailNET
system be of a heavy-duty
industrial grade, however, the
exact processors selected for any
RailNET system are subject to the
end-user's specification and
requirements.
Within the
RailNET ATMS, the
core functionality of the system is
located in the Central Operational
System (COS). In smaller systems,
all RailNET ATMS processors, and
hence all of the RailNET ATMS
functionality, may be located
within the COS; in larger systems
or as the end-user's requirements
dictate, the functionality may be
distributed to Remote Control
Centres (RCCs). The RCC
functionality is configurable and
may include a subset of the system
functionality, including train
management and control,
interfaces to other systems /
components, status / alarm
reporting, etc.
