ControlNET System Overview

ControlNET is a state-of-the-art information management system,
integrating event recording, e-mail, databases, etc. into real-time
process control operational environments. In addition, the
ControlNET system includes functionality for the distribution of
information, such as passenger information, over a wide area.

The ControlNET product line consists of the following subsystems
that may be integrated together and / or with systems supplied by
other parties:

	the ControlNET Event Recording System (ERS) providing logging, archival, and reporting of data events, operator commands, messages, etc., in a real-time control environment, and
	the ControlNET Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) providing management, distribution, and display of information relevant to the traveling public: transit / railway passengers, airline passengers, ferry passengers, etc.

The figure to the right provides an overview
of the relationship between the ControlNET
ERS and the ControlNET PIDS subsystems,
and with systems provided by others, in a
revenue transit / railway environment.

The ControlNET hardware and software is
based upon a distributed architecture that
permits the relocation of the system's
functionality to meet the requirements of the
end-user. As with RailNET products, the
ControlNET software is based upon open
system principles that promotes system
adaptability to function in various
environments: transit systems, railways,
materials handling, etc.
